A Taste of Sicily – Slow Lunch – October 15th – Royal Hotel, 1259 Sandgate Road, Nundah
This is a combined Dante Alighieri and Slow Food Brisbane Inc. event where you will be taken on a virtual tour of some slow food restaurants of Sicily with menus that use “Presidia” products. The three course Sicilian lunch menu will use product that has been sourced locally and the chef will reveal some of the secrets of the dishes you will taste.
There will be several speakers, Ian McBride (Slow Food and Dante) who will talk about the origin of Sicilian cuisine, Matteo Carri, who had hoped to take over an Osteria in Italy and is now involved in exploring Slow Food Sicily with Back Track Adventures, will take us to recently explored slow food restaurants around Syracuse and share the delights of the zone. Francesco the chef will talk us through the tastes of his carefully chosen menu inspired by his time in and around Messina.
Invite friends as it promises to be a wonderfully convivial and informative event where we celebrate the links between Italy and Slow Food and actively support Slow Food’s International Eat Local Campaign.
A complimentary glass of prosecco is included thanks to Filippo d’Arro, a great supporter of the Dante who imports interesting Italian wines. A great selection of Italian wines with some from Sicily will be available by the glass at very reasonable prices.
