Local Tastes will delight.
We will provide our members and guests shared platters of wonderful local morsels and tastes that celebrate the taste of Queensland and Australia, sourced from our celebrated Snail of Approval awardees. The delicious food showcased will be from farmers, artisans and chefs who follow good, clean, fair food practices to protect biodiversity and produce delicious local and indigenous flavours – all with their own personal story.
Wines will be includedand Australian wines will be featured.
A delectable, luscious dessert will be provided.
Terra Madre Day is an occasion to remember that food means enjoyment, culture and conviviality and that the act of sharing food, learning about it and eating it together can influence our values and attitude.
Food for thought and more – an invitation to bring food to share.
In the spirit of sharing and learning about our diverse food heritage, we invite you to bring a small plate of simple food, if you wish, that carries your own food “story” to add to the wonderful food platters provided on the day.
We would love to know something about the plate of food you bring to share and encourage you to include a brief note about where it came from, who grew it, who nurtured the recipe, who prepared it or what pleasure, tradition or treasured memory it invokes for you.

“Putting children in touch with taste education in the school day”.
Jayne Aguair and Dani Phelan (teachers) will share the inspiration drawn from the international Terra Madre Event in Turin in September, 2018. They will excite you with their stories of how the children are putting taste education into the school day.
Terra Madre Day brings together all who share the vision of a food system that supports local economies, that respects the environment, protects biodiversity, taste, and tradition. A better alternative is possible!
Every year in December supporters of good, clean and fair food from all around the world celebrate the anniversary of Slow Food. They celebrate in various ways, each showing the diversity and creativity of our network. We call this Terra Madre Day, and the time has never been more right to gather with members, friends and neighbours to be convivial and give life to our bountiful, local food traditions with food as the centrepiece of this day.
Terra Madre Day is essentially a celebration day but it is also an important mission to spread our values to wider audiences through sharing of food, knowledge, stories of traditions, and what the future of food means to you. www.slowfood.com
