Slow Food Brisbane (SFB) annual Terra Madre *event was a resounding success. Thank you to all members and friends who for joined with Slow Food Brisbane at Parliament House and who raised their fork to take part in the 11th Terra Madre Day (www.slowfood.com)

What a fantastic food experience that Parliament House Executive Chef Andrew McCrae provided for members and friends of Slow Food Brisbane (www.slowfoodbrisbane.com.au). This memorable dinner was held in the historic and charming Strangers’ Dining Room in Parliament House on Wednesday December 11th, 2019. The food was quite simply superb in every respect, from presentation and explanation to delectable tastes. Andrew is indeed a champion of Queensland produce and his passion is well displayed through his food. With his team he produced a meal full of visual surprises and amazing culinary innovations that were memorable in every regard. His explanations, as we progressed through each course, were informative, educational and entertaining. One very memorable dish for me would have to be the evocative “beet wellington”. A labour of love that was indeed “beet” not Beef! The meal, a seasonal taste of Queensland, was paired with carefully selected wines from the cellar.

It would be fair to say that it was an inspiring example of those who qualify as Snail of Approval chef recipients and who are integral to the protection of food biodiversity and who actively promote slow food values of Good (tasting), Clean (production) and Fair (wages and trade).

Thank you to all who supported this event and for joining with Slow Food Brisbane as we endeavour to support small farmers, local producers, artisans and chefs who are following the Slow Food philosophy of “Good Clean and Fair”.

Slow Food Brisbane Committee will donate any profit from this event to a terra madre focussed, farming and/or community project. We will share this decision with you.
